TEAM ANTHONY and JESSE: The coins aren't shiny enough! This will never do!

REST OF CERTIFIABLE TEAM:  Why are y'all talking about D6? We're about to Kickstart the next game! 

We are getting closer and closer to finalizing  D6 for mass production, and we are pretty excited about how it's coming together. Jesse and Anthony have been working tirelessly to make the game they want to play and no detail is too small to critique, no matter how long it takes! 

As you have noticed by now, we are simply fine tuning, but everyone has worked too hard to settle for less than exactly what we want at this point, right?

Sometimes the most subtle changes make us the happiest.

The last elements we are waiting on before we go to mass production are the boxes, slip case, and the book.  Everything is turning out amazing, but it has taken quite a bit of time.  

All the while, I've been begging them to fast forward to being happy so we can stay on schedule.  When we put December 2019 on the delivery date, I had every intention to deliver early, but I seem to keep failing to remember I work with a bunch of perfectionists. Now it's coming time to face the Bard's music that we are very likely going be a little later than we'd hoped on delivery. Not much later, but I am disappointed that we are not in the middle of mass production at this point (which is where we should be to get the games on the boat in time for December delivery).  We will update you as soon as we have a clearer picture of the timeline, but we are expecting 100 days to begin delivery once mass production begins, so fingers crossed the final pieces come together without issues and Jesse and Anthony can finally be happy.  My happiness, you may have figured out, is not of great concern to anyone it seems.  :)

I know what you are thinking. "Seriously, another update already?"  Well...yes.  

We really are excited to get the board to show off, but I was less excited about Nate's choice in a video title.  To be clear, "Now Boarding" does NOT mean the games are ready and about to make the trek across the ocean.  It means our video guy has a sick sense of humor as he watches me explain that away for the millionth time.  Getting closer every day, though. 

For those that don't care to or can't watch the videos:  We got the final D6 board from the manufacturer. It's really cool.  :)

The Devil's in the Deets

Greetings, everybody! It’s update time!

We did an update recently in which we unboxed some of the samples from our manufacturer, LongPack Games. After taking some time to examine them in detail and meeting with LongPack at Gen Con, we wanted to follow up with you.

In our experience, it’s quite normal for there to be some back-and-forth between designer and manufacturer when it comes to component color. It’s one of the aspects of production that can be especially difficult to nail down, and D6 is no exception. (With this being the “first draft” of the components, we frankly would have been surprised if there weren’t some corrections necessary.)

The color for some of the minis is oversaturated, so we’ll be working to adjust that. As you can see, these are subtle changes. It’s a very short trip from “rich” to “cartoonish” hue-wise, and we want to make sure we stay firmly within the bounds of the former. Once we're happy with the minis, we'll make sure the color consistency for all components within each player class is dialed in, too.

Right now, the artwork on the monster tokens is heat-pressed all the way to the edge. Ideally, we’d like to have a colored border on the tops of the tokens so it’s more immediately apparent which enemy you’re looking at. We’re still trying to determine the feasibility of this. 

As much as we like to think of manufacturing processes being automated, there are certain tasks that still require a human touch, and the stamping of the tokens is one of them. Adding in the border magnifies any tiny inconsistencies in this process. We’re still trying to find a balance of maintaining artistic/functional intent and minimizing the visual impact of human error during manufacturing.

There are minor inconsistencies in the interlocking pieces for the card carts and signs. There’s more variance than we would like in some of the fits; some are too tight and others a bit too loose. We’re working to get those die lines as close to perfect as possible so that once you’ve put everything together, the pieces all fit juuuuust right.

The coin looks really nice as-is, but we’re hoping to make some minuscule adjustments in the amount of relief in places. We’re also planning to go a bit darker on the antique finish. (Anthony is very exacting; if he weren’t, our stuff wouldn’t have the quality we’ve become known for.) 


The cards look great, but the final version will have a linen finish. This will allow them to slide against each other with less friction during gameplay.

Happy Friday! 

We got some samples from the manufacturer and wanted to share! 

There is a lot to be excited about, but we still have quite a bit of tweaking to do. Overall, though, we are definitely seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and can't wait to get the mass production underway.

Happy July, everyone! 

So, in addition to packaging the booster in a fancy foil that you can rip open and throw away, we are also putting the Kraken Crew and Eaters of the Dead hero standees and cards in fancy foil packs as well. But don't worry, Jesse is working extra hard to make them nice and pretty for your garbage can. 

To be perfectly clear, the Kraken Crew and Eaters of the Dead hero packs come with the dice some of you already ordered. This isn't another money grab for another booster. Don't worry, we will continue to be painfully blunt about our money grabs. This isn't one of them. If it was a money grab and we wanted you to add the dice to your order, we would say something akin to them being $16 and you should e-mail moneygrab@certifiablestudios.com to add them. But that's not what we are doing here. 

And as Jesse mentioned, we are being more proactive about posting our videos on YouTube and Facebook, but sometimes they need to be shared with the people that actually care...you!  

For those of you that don't have time or want to watch the video, all you really need to know is Brent is still under the impression you care about the players manual that he's been working on for over a year. :)
